Reading Response 4

Reading Response 4

Not much has changed since my last reading response. I am just further along in the book that I am reading, which is Maybe Someday by Collene Hoover. As I mentioned in the previous reading response, this books gives a different perspective on the story. Each chapter is from a different characters point of view and that leaves the reader with many ongoing questions. I have found it easier to understand what is going on because I get more sides of the story. If I have questions at the end of one chapter, they are most likely answered in the chapter following. Its almost as if each chapter is an individual story in and of itself. When combined with the other chapters it becomes one great big novel that makes a for a better story all together.

I really like how the author writes in a tone that is relatable to teenagers today. Since the characters in the book are all in their twenties, Hoover has to find a way to make that personality stick out. She does that by using phrases and wording that teenagers often use today. By doing that I, among other readers, feel more of a connection to what I am reading because the phrases used are things I say on a day to day basis. Reading a book with that kind of word choice makes it easy to follow and honestly much more engaging. I find myself getting lost in the story and not being able to put the book down. Hoover does a stellar job of making me feel a personal connection to each character, either by what is going on in their lives or just by some small trait they portray. I like her writing style a lot and I think I will look into reading more of her books in the future.
