Throughout the whole plot of this book, animals have been after humans. Attacks happen at the most random times, people are getting seriously injured and some are even losing their lives. No one knows what is going on with the animals or why their behavior has suddenly changed, that is the common answer that everyone seems to be working towards in the book. I would say that one of the big climaxes in this book is when they finally are able to put forth a solution towards the growing problem.

Towards the end of the book all the pieces start to fit together and the community is able to start making changes for the good. The government is finally taking action to protect the people, this is what Jackson has worked for the whole book. With such a big event happening, Jackson does a good job of keeping his head clear and staying focused on the situation ahead of him. “‘Now they’re listening. It’s got to be pretty weird to finally get what you want.’ ‘I just hope it’s what we need.'” (Patterson 360)
