The Patterns of Divorce

The Patterns of Divorce

This article was the results of a study done at the University of California, Berkeley about the patterns of divorces in families. They wanted to see if students who had divorced parents and/or grandparents, would affect their relationships. The thesis was basically stating that marriage failure tends to run in generations and that males and females who had divorce in their families were more compatible with eachother, they were out to find if this really was true. This article had a lot of great charts and statistics to help prove their point and here’s a few key ones that help support the thesis. “Of the girls from non-divorced parents, 15.4 percent had gone with boys from divorced parents, and of the girls from divorced parents 17.2 percent had gone with boys from divorced parents.” “Of the boys from non-divorced parents, 14.5 percent had had steadies* from divorced parents, and of the boys from divorced parents 13.2 percent had had steadies from divorced parents.” This article had some great statistics that I will be able to use to demonstrate my main ideas.
